Pingback Client

Instructions

This is a pingback client with two features. First it is possible to send manual pingbacks in the case your blogging system doesn't send pingbacks for you automatically. You send a manual pingback by picking the “Send a manual pingback” from the Method dropdown. In the Target field you put the URL you are sending the pingback to, and in the Source field you put the permalink of your own blog entry that links to the target.

The other option is to get a list of pingbacks on any URL. Simply put the URL into the Target field. Then you have several options:

Get content type
If you check this box the pingback client will find out what kind of media each reference is (text, audio, video or application).
Look for audio & video in HTML
If you check this box the pingback client will look for links inside HTML reference for links to audio and video content (the audio and video has to be marked with a rel="alternate"). This requires quite a bit of work (and time) because the entire HTML documents has to be downloaded.
Deliver result as
You can choose to have the results delivered in three different ways. The HTML list will just be a normal result list on this page. A SMIL playlist will contain a playlist of all audio and video content (and links to text content). It will most likely launch automatically in your video player. Bear in mind that your video player might not be able to play all types of video content. The last option is an XSPF playlist as used by Webjay. It's just included for fun, I'm not sure if anyone can use it. It'll probably be displayed in your browser, and it will look pretty weird.
